Located on the former site of Chester Castle, Cheshire Military Museum A Block is a Grade I Listed Building and sits within the area of an Ancient Monument. The roof of the building was in a poor state of repair with many areas of significant storm water ingress and elements of the masonry façade in required attention. The MoD commissioned for the design of roof adaptations and masonry repairs from RIBA stage 1 to 4, and CBP Architects were appointed as lead designer to develop the conservation work proposals in co-ordination with the wider team.

CBP carried out a full building survey and condition report for the building fabric and engaged with specialist surveyors and the wider design team, to develop the Scheduled Monument Consent design package with supporting documentation. Statutory consents were granted by Historic England, and CBP were then appointed to develop the detailed design and specification package for tendering and Building Control.
